jax harmon photography + design

Hi, I’m Jax and I take pictures.

I’m also wife to my favorite soldier and mom to two little hooligans.  In addition to photography I love architecture and interior design, mid-century modernism, playgrounds, handmade things, bicycles, Vietnamese food, period films, jackets, sleeping in, the great outdoors, Subaru cars, and red couches.  I grew up on the east coast of the United States (and it will always be dear to my heart) but am loving our nomadic life as we move wherever the Army sends us.  My days typically involve lots of legoes, nerf wars, vacuuming, folding laundry, reading stories, cooking (or not...), giving lots of hugs and kisses, changing diapers, making really tall block towers, squeezing in my creative time, and hopefully photographing you!

My website is www.jaxharmon.com; you can view my pricing pdf here and can reach me at jax@jaxharmon.com if you are interested in a session with me (and I hope you are!!).

Jax Harmon Photography does not currently shoot weddings, only portrait sessions.

I am currently in Fort Bliss/ El Paso Texas.

I will be sharing current sessions and other random photography related tidbits here on the Harmon Squad.  If you are only interested in the photography posts, just choose the 'photography' category to the right.

And because I know you want to know, here is the equipment I use:
disclaimer: Unfortunately, simply buying the same gear as me does not guarantee gorgeous photos.  Your very own creativity and vision is required for that.

camera bodies:
Canon 5D (with Canon Battery Grip BG-E4)
Canon EOS 3
Pentax K1000 (it was my dad's when he was in college)
Lomo Lubitel 2 (Russian version)

lenses:
(for Canon bodies):
Canon 50mm 1.8
Sigma 50mm 2.8 Macro
Canon 28mm 2.8
Sigma 20mm 1.8
Sigma 10mm 2.8 Fisheye
Canon 85mm 1.8
Lensbaby Muse
(for Pentax body):
Pentax 50mm 2.0
Tokina 28mm 2.8
Tamron 135mm 2.8
Vivitar 2x Macro Teleconverter

other stuff:
Polaris Light Meter
Shootsac
Pelican 1510 Case

for snapshots:
Fuji Finepix S5200
Coleman HD Video Camera
iphone 3GS

If you can't tell, I have a bit of a problem.  I've slowly added to the collection over the past few years but can't get rid of anything.  I like having options:)

In case you aren't aware, a few of those cameras are FILM cameras!  When I first started out I never dreamed I would go back to shooting film (digital took over the camera scene fast and hard).  But I starting noticing that the images I would be drawn to were film images.  So I pulled out my Pentax K1000 and attended the Film Is Not Dead Workshop and fell in love with shooting film myself!
